Regulation of the Child Safe Standards in Victoria

The new 11 Victorian Child Safe Standards

The new Victorian Child Safe Standards will commence on 1 July 2022.

The Victorian Government passed the Child Wellbeing and Safety (Child Safe Standards Compliance and Enforcement) Amendment Bill in June 2021. The Bill includes changes to the Child Safe Standards, replacing Victoria's current 7 standards and principles with the new Victorian 11 Child Safe Standards.

Regulator – Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP)

The CCYP promotes the safety of children, the prevention of child abuse and the proper response to allegations of child abuse. The CCYP supports and reinforces the implementation of Best Practice in Child Safety and have powers to take action when organisations may be non-compliant with the Standards.
