On farms there are many water hazards that pose a drowning risk to children. These water hazards may include dams, water troughs, water tanks, post holes and irrigation channels. A safe play area around the home, which is fenced and where children can be supervised by adults is essential. Here, we discuss water safety tips for farms.
Farming families can assign a safe swimming area on their property and teach children rules around playing in or around water. Therefore, the need for water safety tips for farms is very important. For example, children should learn that banks can be slippery and muddy, always swim with a buddy and have adult supervision and when entering the water wade in slowly to check for danger like submerged logs or debris.
