Swimming For Kids Who Don’t Like It

We often get calls for help – mainly from parents who report that their children don’t like swimming lessons. This could be for a number of reasons, including fear of the water, a scare in the pool or another water environment, lack of early exposure to the water, developmental stages or personality.

It’s important that parents understand that swimming for kids is a journey which cannot be hurried or forced, especially with timid children. Timid children need to be in a learning environment that makes them feel safe and secure, encourages them to progress at their own pace and celebrates small steps to make them feel good about their progress.
